Tribute to my Nana

This beautiful women is my Nana...Patricia Magill.  This picture comes from when I was born my dad and my Nana made a bet about my eye color that would it change or not change by the time I turned one...my dad won the bet.

She lived a long, healthy life.  Her death we knew was coming but in a sense I wasn't quite ready.  Every time I saw her I thought this was the end but I always seemed to get one more chance.  I remember the last time I did see her was Christmas 2012.  The girls and I flew down for a few days and got to see many of my relatives one of which was my Nana.  When my dad and the girls and I were driving up to my Granny Reynolds house just before we left to fly home, I remember crying so much saying this would probably be my last time seeing her.  It was an extremely hard good bye but I was very grateful I got just one more visit with her and that both my girls even though very little still got to meet my Nana.  She was an amazing woman and with all her achievements in life such a great role model!  I miss my Nana!  I am so glad though by the way that she is at peace, not in pain anymore, and with the love of her life finally who passes away back in 2000 (she lived 14 years with out him).

Here are some photos from her funeral weekend:

These three pics are from a tree their children planted in memory of Grampy...I had to see it and it was beautiful!

me and my cousin Amanda at the viewing...it has been quite a long time since I have seen her!

Here I am visiting my grandpa...this was the first time in 14 years I could come sit with him...it was just too painful because of how much I missed him:  Katie Magill lived on the hill never worked and never will...this was a saying he always said to me.  I miss him watching Jeopardy, him smoking his pipe, hearing him talk about his horse races, the grand kids counting and dividing the wam money...I love you grampy and glad I finally had the strength to come talk to you!

My Grampy and Nana's beautiful children Richard, Linda, Sherry, and James

Now add the only grand children....Amanda, James, me (Katie)

Lastly add Joan and little Pat...Nana and Grampy's nieces

A tradition to show a death in the family...they were beautiful

The children giving their love and support to each other before we left for the funeral

On our way to the funeral service...I wore pearls in honor of Nana...she had a set that my Aunt Linda got but I just always remember my Nana and her pearls!

you can't visit the south and not have some yummy BBQ...aw something I do miss about the good ole south!

Paisley turned 2

Nate, Adey, and I took this little princess out to her favorite place to eat (Buffalo Wild Wings) to have her favorite food (macaroni and cheese) followed by a pretty yummy free dessert (super chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup)!  Yummmmmm! They gave her a birthday shout out and overall it was just perfect for this little girl!

Then we came home and let her open presents from us:  she got a wiggle worm sprinkler that Adey picked out, a princess Sofia ball, bubble guppy look and find book, play dough, a bubble lawn mower, and Cinderella dress up clothes.  She loves all her presents and it doesn't take too much to please this little beauty!

A few of her stats:

Height: 33.5 (a little on the short side)
Weight: 27 pounds
Eyes: Blue
Hair color: Blonde
Favorite TV show: Bubble Guppies, Doc McStuffins, Princess Sofia, Yo Gabba Gabba, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse
Favorite Movie: Frozen (or as she calls it...Summer because of Olaf)
Favorite color: She always pics purple and brown
Favorite food: Macaroni and cheese, grapes, yogurt, apple sauce, gold fish, special K cracker chips
Favorite things to do: play in her sand box from Nonni and Grampy, going swimming, blowing bubbles, play dress up or doctors, reading books, coloring, and trying to do everything her big sister does.

She is so full of energy and love.  Her vocabulary is beyond anything I have expected.  She can count to 20 (has been able to for a while), name all her colors and just about all her shapes.  She can name a few of her letters and has great manners of saying please and thank you.  She is definitely a little bit more difficult as a two year old than Adey was but it is just more with testing my patience and being nice to her sister.  I still love her just as much and am enjoying spending all my days with her finally since I get to be home a lot more and I love watching her explore and learn!  She has a beautiful smile and melts my heart every day!  She makes me so proud!

Easter 2014

I love hiding eggs the night before for the girls.  We have a tradition where we put the kid's baskets with empty eggs by the TV stand and the big white fluffy bunny comes while we are sleeping to fill the eggs and hide them and then fill our Easter baskets (sometimes those get hidden too...not this year though).  Also we like to put out some carrots and ranch in case he gets a little hungry and needs a snack (sadly we forgot to do this this year...always next year)

Of course the girls went to bed later than normal and even though their poor tired mama didn't sleep well they ignore that and wake up earlier than normal...(maybe when holidays come around they will learn to
sleep in).

Adey's favorite was her scooter/helmet and Paisley's favorite was her bubbles...overall the bunny did well!

Next was the egg hunt which the girls did pretty well...This was Paisley's first.  With a little coaching she found some eggs and the girls shared the treats from the eggs (sometimes i do non-candy, sometimes i do money...this year i just did chocolate...next year I will try something different).

While we waited for Nate to come we talked with Grampy (my dad) who was visiting my Nana (his mom).  Then we skyped with Nonni (my mom who was alone since my dad was with his mom).  Once he got here we went on our first of two walks today enjoying the beautiful springy Easter weather and so Adey could try out her scooter.  The girls picked up flowers along the way

When we got home the girls ate some lunch and Paisley was supposed to take a nap but decided to play in her crib instead and Adey had some quiet time.  Once I decided to finally get Paisley up we colored some Easter eggs while we waited for dinner to finish:

We had a nice dinner once it was ready (ham, salad, okra, home made wheat bread, corn on the cob, watermelon, and sparkling cider...oh so yummy...perfect spring type meal).  Then we went on another walk..this time a little shorter and then we played at the park and in the grass (i got asked if I was a cheerleader because i was doing cartwheels with Adey...I hope I continue to have great health and look this young as I continue to age):

When we got home we rolled out our cookies and use the cookie cutters to make some spring cookies of flowers, eggs, bunnies, and butterflies (my mom got us this cute cookie cutters i think last year on clearance after the holiday):

Then I had the girls take a bath but Adey wanted to help make the frosting so it was a quick to the point bath and they both played for a few then got out and got ready for bed.  Then we made the icing and iced our cookies:

Overall it was a fun filled day of family time while making memories!  These are the best days of our lives!

Adey ER visit

So a few weeks ago Adey was running with a ball and tripped over the ball and hit the back of her head on the concrete.  It was quite traumatizing for my little 4 year old but she was so brave.  She kept getting sleepy and not acting like her self so I called her doctors office and spoke with the nurse who we went through basic symptoms and afterwards told me I should take her up to Primary Children's Hospital to be examined.  So I took her up and when I was checking her in they noticed her nose was swelling and draining (I was so panicked because they mentioned  she could be leaking spinal fluid so they took us back immediately for some blood work and x-rays).  She didn't cry at all and even had to wear this uncomfortable neck brace.  She got a yummy slushy when they ruled out she wasn't leaking fluid...boils down to it she just had a concussion and that she should take it easy for a few days.  Much easier said then done to tell a 4 yr old to be calm and watch movies and no jumping, bike riding, being super active...YEA RIGHT!  just glad she was alright and nothing to major.
