Washington DC
My Uncle Richard passed away back in May of 2016. His body was cremated and he was to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington DC. Well they are quite busy and backed up so my Uncle had to wait some time. They tried to get him in October but the date we were given did not work for all of our family so we ended up choosing February 22, 2017. His life insurance policy covered just about all of our trip and it was a nice family vacation and we enjoyed visiting with most of my dad's side of the family. A lot of my family got to meet Nate and Emery for the first time and Adey and Paisley for like the 2nd or 3rd time. The girls all did so good on the flights we were quite proud! The ceremony was just what my uncle would have wanted and I know him, John, my Nana and Grampy (his parents) were all with us on this day. The night before my Aunt Sherry put together a little slide show and quick farewell of my uncle. He didn't want anything big but family to all get together and remember the memories of him and say our good byes. We also ate at some yummy foods, played ticket to ride with my family, visited the following museums: Botanical gardens, Natural History Museum, Air and Space Museum, and the Postage Museum; also saw the capital and a few other buildings while Nate and Adey also went on a quick/short adventure over to see the White House. We didn't sleep the greatest as our room was quite warm and lots of traffic horns and emergency vehicles but the hotel staff we stayed at was amazing! They gave the girls a little gift upon arrival and held the doors and helped us with our bags and just very friendly! We had a great trip and hope to one day venture back to Washington DC and do a little more for we only visited a small portion of the historic city!
