First time to Pop n Sweets

Here in American Fork we have a yummy place called Pop n Sweets with many, many different kinds of soda and candy's from around the world.  It made me happy that I can get some of those treats that I used to get from Germany and England just right here in good ole Utah less than 5 minutes from my house.  The girls got a blue berry soda shake which I had them split and it was pretty tasty.  I think it's a place we will go back to and probably even take Nate.

our visit to a yummy, not to expensive place...thanks for the refreshing drink and treat on this hot, HOT afternoon in Utah (gotta earn points to get free shakes too...we will make)

put the girls to work...

So on Thursday I was thinking there was a few things I needed to clean.  The girls have their normal chores like cleaning up their toys, feeding the fish, clearing their plates at meal times, putting the dirty clothes in the hamper, reading books, Adey has to vacuum and empty the 2 bathroom trash cans into the big outdoor trash can, and Paisley has to wipe down the tables.  Well today I got out the steam mop to start mopping the kitchen and Paisley wanted to join in so why not let the learn and she had fun and did a great job (Adey was vacuuming during this time).

Then I added the blue dye into both toilets and Paisley wanted to clean their bathroom toilet.  Adey saw what she was doing and asked if she could clean the other toilet and while cleaned the toilets, I wiped down the sinks and counters.  Adey kept telling me "I have always wanted to clean the toilets.  Its fun with this scrubby brush."  Paisley I had to explain to her that she did a great job and it was time to be done cause if I never stopped her I don't know how long she would have kept going....glad the girls had a great time and I think I may just have these to their weekly chores for their chore money cause they did an awesome job!!

Grotto Trail

This past Sunday we decided we need to get out as a family and enjoy the beautiful outdoors of Utah.  So we headed down to Payson, where we headed up the Nebo Loop about 7 to 8 miles (scary, narrow drive by the way and of course I was nervous but Nate is such a great driver I really had no reason to be besides to the right of me was a drop off the beginning of the mountain or into the streams).  We found a .3 mile of a hike to a small water fall and place to splash around in (pretty easy hike I mean our 5 and 3 year old did it with stops along the way so Adey could draw a picture of what she saw or for a water break so we could stay hydrated).  It was nice, relaxing, beautiful and a great way to spend our afternoon together as a family!

Temple Square...keepin' busy with the littles

so being a stay at home mom is extremely different from the working mom I used to once be (almost a year ago...but I am beyond grateful and feel very blessed to finally be able to stay home and take care of my kids and do what i am called to do.  I LOVE my job as a mommy).  I am now having to come up with things to do during the day to keep busy, especially with summer vacation (7 peaks, parks, pool, hanging with family, going to Idaho, the beach/pond, museums, etc....) Well one day we decided to head up to Salt Lake City and walk around temple square with my sister in law, Tina, and some of her kids and her host brother Budi (sp? from Ecuador).  I love how you feel walking around the Temple grounds.  I saw this sign that talked about helping out when you can and learned a little more about the church welfare and all the service they offer (one of my new personal goals is to serve and be more loving towards others...we all are brothers and sisters and can lend a helping hand from time to time and not be so lazy amongst ourselves.  We are all in this together so be a friend and help a neighbor or get to know someone new...everyone needs a friend, someone they can call on in a time of need, especially amongst these crazy days and all the hatred in the world.  Be different and show your love.  I could go on and on with the feelings I felt while walking on the Temple Square grounds.  It was truly amazing!)  Anyway, little did we know when we were up in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, we saw Elder Packer's funeral was going on in the tabernacle.  So for a short time (while we toured the memorial building and ate lunch and played around in the family search center) most of temple square was shut down.  We had a great time and thought we were gonna be rained out but were not.  So glad we got to go and have this experience!
