Back to the ER again...

On Thursday, May 12, Paisley, Emery and I loaded on up on this beautiful sunny day and headed out for a walk to the park.  We got to the park and were deciding to go to the swings when Paisley said she was thirsty so she got a drink.  Then she started complaining of her head starting to hurt and then within seconds BAM...she tensed and locked up and came down with one of her benign paroxysmal torticollis migraines- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benign_paroxysmal_torticollis

This happened right before 10 in the morning.  By the time Nate came home from work after 4 she was still down (she did have a short break but that didn't last very long).  So I called her pediatrician and her neurologist which then I was instructed with how long she had been down to take her to the Er and have her checked out.  We sent Emery and Adey to other homes (Kimberly and a neighbor friend) since we had no idea how long we would be there for.

Paisley didn't want to ride in the car but we worked out and got her to the ER.  Once we arrived she started throwing up and tensing up again.  Once they got the IV in her hand (4 tries in each hand/arm/foot) they got some blood drawn and fluids going and a strep test and some pain medicine.  Not much change but she did get a nap in.  None of the ER doctors had ever heard of her condition and especially in someone so little.  They had to contact her neurologist who said that sometimes there are just some episodes that are going to take all day just because.  This time happened to be one of those and keeping Paisley hydrated and giving her some benadryl to help her sleep for many hours is what was needed.  So we will continue to learn the different ways of how to help Paisley (these sure are not fun watching her be in so much pain but we will always be there for her).  Once they ended up discharging her after they gave her some benadryl to help relax her muscles and let her sleep it off.

Once we got home around 930, we had to take Ari home (we are so grateful she came to help).  Paisley was still down at this point so we put her in our bed until we were ready for bed and then moved her and she slept until 7 the next morning where she woke up so energetic and ready for the day.  We sure love this little girl and would do anything we can to help her feel better and get over these Migraines which seriously happen about every 3-4 months.  She is becoming more aware when they are coming on (we are pretty sure it is still heat/sun/water induced).  But each time she comes out of it and is better we are grateful to have her back to her normal, happy, sweet, crazy self!
