Around midnightish (April 9) I thought my water broke so we headed over to Labor and Delivery at American Fork hospital. We were there for a few hours with a confirmed answer of no my water did not break but baby girl was very inactive with her heart rate. It stayed pretty steady with very little ups and downs even after them shocking my belly twice to get her to wake up. The on call doctor thought it was alright and sent me home but to mention it at my doctors appointment the next day which then I would officially be 37 weeks (considered full term). So we left around 3 in the morning and headed home. We were so tired and had to get up around 8 am to get ready for my doctors appointment at 9. So we immediately went to "sleep" but got very little of it (as I tossed and turned because I was emotional because my water hadn't broken and concerned because of the baby's inactivity/heart rate but Nate started snoring right away so at least one of us got some shut eye).
Once I did fall asleep the 8 am alarm came a little too quickly but we got up and showered but we didn't get a chance to eat breakfast so we thought after the doctors we would go on a morning date (those don't happen very often). So we headed on over to Valley OBGYN thinking it would be a normal appointment. I check in, make a payment, wait for our name to be called (and saw two old friends from college shocked that they were expecting their 4th but extremely happy for them)...then they called my name and we headed back. Checked my blood pressure and got on the scale (gained a total of 32 pounds at this point...this was the most so far with any of my pregnancies) and gave them my urine test and then settled on down in a room waiting patiently for a doctor. He came in about 10ish minutes later (Dr. Lamoreaux sp???) and checked everything saying her heart rate looked great, I was measuring right on, yet I was only about 1 maybe 1.5 centimeter dilated (insert sad face because this is what I was the week before and after walking more I was sure I was a little bit further). Then we asked a few questions and mentioned the Non Stress Test the night before at the hospital showing baby girl being very inactive. So then he had me do an ultrasound which they thought she was measuring about 6 lbs 4 ounces, looked healthy, and great fluids. So then he said lets send you back to the hospital and do another stress test because he had pulled up my previous one and didn't like the way it looked. So then we asked "hey, we haven't had breakfast yet can we go get some then head over" which of course was ok. So thats what we did. We headed over to Jim's diner for a quick date, I took Nate home so he could head into work (since we thought aw nothing will happen and he didn't need to sit around with me while they just monitored the baby's heart beat...nothing exciting), and then I headed back over to labor and delivery (they were expecting me...).
So I got all hooked up and after about an hour and being shocked again they called Dr. Lamoreaux and the on call doctor who was Dr. Melendez and had them look at the heart rate strip (they didn't like it...still not much activity). So then about half an hour later Dr. Lamoreaux showed up in my room and we talked. He really didn't like it. He said we basically have 3 options but the first one being we monitor baby a little longer he felt wouldn't be effective so he ruled that one out, second option was to head back for a c section, and the third option was go break my water and get me hooked up to some pictocin and try for this VBAC (second one for me...I really didn't want to deal with a c section and the recovery from it). He felt the baby needed to come out and since I was full term it would be ok. She would do better on the outside. So I obviously chose to go break my water. I called Nate and he headed home, showered (he had to because he had chemicals from work on him) and met me at the hospital with all our stuff. We both were ecstatic yet nervous (maybe even a little worried about our baby since she was not active).
I was in room number 10, had my gown on, got my IV's and I had strep B with this baby so they hooked me up to penicillin (I had to get a new dose every 4 hours until I delivered which I ended up getting 3 times and the 3rd time it really burned my arm). They broke my water around 230 pm and wanted to see how I progressed on my own (I was 1.5 cm and 70% effaced so I still had a while to go). I got my epidural around 245 pm (I am quite a wuss when it comes down to pain...).
Then around 630 I had gone no where so they hooked me up to pictocin to help induce my labor (if you have never had a c section they start you at 4 and go up in increments of 4 up to 20...with VBAC they cut it in half so I started at a 2 and then they would come in every 20 minutes and increase it by 2's...I got up to an 8 but then baby girls heart rate started not tolerating it very well so they decreased it down to 4...watched it for about 30 minutes and she didn't enjoy it so they took me off to give my body a break and they put me on oxygen to help get a little more in my body for the baby). Around 10 pm I had finally gotten up to 3 cm and 80 % effaced and then around 12 am they checked me again and I was 3.5 cm and 90% effaced. So slow moving so they called the doctor but warned me that if things didn't start picking up I would more than likely head back for a c section so of course I cried. The doctor was in Orem at the other hospital so they told me that gave us some time. Around 1 am the nurse came in and I told her I was feeling some pressure so I wondered if the epidural was wearing off so she checked me and was like well lets get ready to have this baby you are at 9.5 cm and 100 % effaced (Nate turned off his phone, jumped up and looked extremely nervous/excited...labor up to this point was a piece of cake because of my epidural so I didn't need Nate's help much except for water and to talk to or watch tv shows like Hero's with...). They called my doctor on over and he got their about 110 am and we got the show started around 115. I did 3 rounds of pushes with 2-3 pushes each round. Our little girl came out around 123 am on April 10, 2015 (37 weeks 1 day, 5 lbs 9.6 ounces, 16.5 inches long, with brown hair, a short umbilical cord, dark blue/greyish eyes). I did have an episiotomy. Right after she was born she was breathing a little hard so they had me do skin to skin to see if that would help. Not really so baby girl, the nurse, and Nate headed down to the nursery to check on her while I was being stitched up. When they got their the nurses felt her breathing sounded fine so they immediately brought her back up. We had to hang out until around 3 am until I could head down to recovery and once I got their I immediately asked for a catheter. After I got my pain medicine started and they did my welcome briefing we tried to get some sleep which was probably after 430...we were so exhausted at this point from two very long nights and now a brand new baby! She didn't have a name at this point. Nate new what we should name her, I on the other hand was very indecisive but so in love!
We got our first sponge bath and did pretty well
In our room after we woke from a short nap (aka bedtime...lol)

Getting ready to head home...in the hospital since Thursday and got discharged on Sunday morning...we were more than ready to get out of there. You were pricked so many times because your blood sugar was low and you had jaundice (your feet and right wrist became very sensitive for a few days)
We left the hospital weighing 5 lbs 4 ounces
